Green Chicken | Hariyali Chicken | Hara Masala Chicken

Green Chicken, also known as Hariyali Chicken or Hara Masala Chicken, is a delicious and healthy Indian dish made with chicken pieces marinated in a green herb and spice paste, and then grilled or baked to perfection. Here’s a recipe for Green Chicken:

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams boneless chicken, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup fresh coriander leaves
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1 green chili, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a blender, combine the coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chili, garlic, ginger, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, yogurt, and salt. Blend until you have a smooth green paste.
  2. Transfer the green paste to a mixing bowl.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to the green paste and mix well to coat them evenly.
  4. Cover the bowl with a cling wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow the chicken to marinate and absorb the flavors.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  6. Grease a baking tray with oil and place the marinated chicken pieces on it.
  7. Bake the chicken for 25-30 minutes or until cooked through, turning the pieces over once halfway through the cooking time.
  8. Garnish with lemon wedges and serve hot with rice, naan bread or salad.
