Vegetable pakoras are a delicious Indian snack made by deep-frying a mixture of vegetables and spices in a chickpea flour batter. Here’s a recipe for crispy, tasty and easy vegetable pakoras:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup chickpea flour (besan)
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Water, as needed
- 1 cup chopped vegetables (onions, potatoes, cauliflower, spinach, etc.)
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add water to the mixture to make a smooth and thick batter. The consistency should be such that when you dip the vegetables into the batter, they are well coated.
- Add the chopped vegetables to the batter and mix well, making sure each piece is coated with the batter.
- Heat oil for deep-frying in a wok or deep pan. Test the oil by dropping a small amount of batter into the oil. If it sizzles and rises to the surface, the oil is ready for frying.
- Using a spoon, drop small portions of the vegetable mixture into the hot oil. Fry the pakoras until they are golden brown and crispy, turning them over occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- Once the pakoras are cooked, remove them from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
- Serve the hot vegetable pakoras with chutney or ketchup.
Enjoy your crispy, tasty and easy vegetable pakoras!
